The Philadelphia Phillies had a rough start to the season but ultimately found a way to make the playoffs. They didn’t seem to get the ball rolling until the front office fired former manager Joe Girardi. Now, he opens up about watching the club succeed without him.
Joe Girardi Admits He Regrets The Way Things Turned Out With Phillies
During an interview on Barstool Sports, Girardi claims he isn’t surprised by the team’s impressive run to the postseason. However, the Phillies’ former manager goes into depth about what transpired in his firing.
Joe Girardi opens up about the first portion of the schedule and how it was “absolutely brutal.” Additionally, it kind of sounds like Girardi puts a little blame on Bryce Harper’s injury that sidelined him for one week. However, after the Phillies fired Girardi is when the team surged and he clearly wishes he was still a part of the team.

It truly has been a wild season for Philadelphia. Many didn’t see this team having a second-half surge the way they did. However, after spending loads of money in free agency to acquire a strong roster, it seems to finally be paying off. The Phillies are currently tied 1-1 in a playoff series against the Atlanta Braves.
We’ll see how the postseason plays out for this team, as current manager Rob Thompson has done an excellent job coaching the squad. If the Phillies can find a way to get past the Braves, then this team could go on a long run to the World Series.
