Even as the city has changed in the 21st century, Pittsburgh is still widely regarded as an industrial town, which is why it is generally recommended to avoid eating fish from the Allegheny River in the city, largely due to industrial pollutants that settle in the riverbed.

However, according to Pitt Panthers coach Pat Narduzzi, that hasn’t stopped third-year wide receiver Tyreek Robinson.

Narduzzi heaped praise on Robinson following the team’s first fall scrimmage over the weekend, but he also questioned the wideout’s decision-making off the field.

Robinson has already had an eventful offseason after getting arrested in July for allegedly riding dirt bikes in a reckless manner through the city.

But things didn’t stop there.

Narduzzi highlighted both the good and bad of Robinson when addressing his wide receiver room Monday.

“The guy I probably never talk about is Tyreek Robinson, starting to turn the corner,” Narduzzi said. “He still gives me chest pains at times as an old coach. But Tyreek has been really good. I’m impressed with Tyreek.

“We clean up some things off the field, just little things he drives me nuts with. He likes eating fish out of the river. That’s not a good thing, okay? Like, don’t do that, Tyreek. I don’t know if you ever heard that story before, but he does some stuff Louisiana-style, but he’s having a great camp right now. I’m impressed with what he’s doing.”

Robinson’s hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana, sits between several lakes, reservoirs, and the Red River, which makes it a fisherman’s dream.

Meanwhile, Pitt’s practice facility and Acrisure Stadium sit at the convergence of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers. In theory, it’s the perfect place to fish.

But in practice, the commonwealth of Pennsylvania advises against doing so. So unless Robinson wants to miss time this season with a nasty stomach bug, he might want to just stick to fishing for sport moving forward.
