Ex-Raiders Punter Marquette King claims that his release back in 2017 from the team might have been the result of a playful encounter with team owner Mark Davis.

King, an NFL second team All-Pro selection in 2016, said that he put Davis in a headlock and then playfully gave him a ‘soft noggie’.

During an interview on Audacy’s Silver and Black Today, King explained how much the Raiders meant to him and how he couldn’t imagine wearing any other colors, then shared the story about Mark Davis.

King played a solid role for the Raiders on special teams during his tenure with the team, leading the league in punting yards and setting franchise records.

After leaving the Raiders, King briefly joined the Denver Broncos in 2018, but his contract was terminated due to an injury settlement. He later played for the St. Louis Battlehawks in 2020.

King currently plays on the Arlington Renegades of the XFL.
