The New York Jets are in the middle of a quarterback dilemma. Zach Wilson isn’t living up to the hype while Mike White hasn’t quite proven himself just yet. Regardless, the team sits in the middle of the playoff hunt. With that in mind, head coach Robert Saleh reveals his plans for the remainder of the season.

According to Connor Hughes, the Jets plan to go back to Wilson at some point in 2022. However, that can all change depending on how White handles himself in the next two games. Robert Saleh’s exact statement regarding the quarterback situation, “We’re going to go week to week. This is Mike White’s opportunity — that doesn’t change.”

Taking a week-to-week approach seems like the best idea for the Jets right now. Although White looked phenomenal in Week 12, he was playing against a putrid Chicago Bears defense. Additionally, Robert Saleh doesn’t want to fully give up on Zach Wilson yet. Although he’s been atrocious, keeping your options open is a brilliant decision.

The Jets have two incredibly difficult games up ahead. First, they face off against the Minnesota Vikings, then they take on the Buffalo Bills. If Mike White can at least play well in both of those games, it’s hard to imagine Zach Wilson reclaiming the starting role again this season.

So with that, we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out. The Jets have an intriguing quarterback situation right now. But with the playoffs looming, Robert Saleh needs to seriously consider playing the guy who helps them win. As of right now, that’s Mike White.
