Following the New York Jets win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, a video of Robert Saleh and Sean Payton’s postgame handshake went viral, as it appeared like Saleh said “Stay humble.”

Although closer inspection reveals that Saleh actually said “Stay healthy”, the Jets head coach was asked about the moment during a recent appearance on The Michael Kay Show nonetheless.

And while Saleh confirmed that he didn’t tell Payton to “Stay humble,” he also took the opportunity to take a slight shot at the former Saints head coach by making sure to point out that he’s “going through it” right now.

“Uh, no,” Saleh said with a laugh when asked by Don LaGreca — who made headlines last week with his rant about Giants offensive lineman Evan Neal — if he told Payton to “Stay humble.”

“It’s not my style. He’s going through it right now so there’s no point in piling on,” Saleh continued.

The Week 5 matchup between the Jets and the Broncos — which might’ve saved the former’s season while ending the latter’s — was billed by many as a grudge match after Payton made disrespectful comments about New York Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett during the offseason.

While Payton was critical of the coaching job that Hackett did in Denver last year, the Broncos are actually far worse at this stage of the season than they were last year following their 31-21 defeat to the Jets.

Things certainly don’t get any easier for either the Broncos or the Jets this weekend, though, as Denver is traveling to Kansas City for a Thursday Night Football matchup with the Chiefs, while the Jets will be hosting the 5-0 Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday
