It Sounds Like Ronda Rousey Might Finally Be Ready To Make Her Return To The UFC Octagon

Ronda Rousey has been a very busy woman since she lost her championship to Holly Holm last year. Unfortunately none of what she was doing actually involved, you know, fighting.

At first, Rousey was all emo about losing. Understandable, but we assumed that she’d hop right back on the horse and reclaim her crown. But her emo-ness lingered.

Still, Dana White said that a Rousey-Holm rematch was definitely going to happen. It didn’t.

Then it was said that she’d be fighting in July at UFC 200. That didn’t happen either.

It was at this point we questioned whether she would ever fight in the UFC again.

Then Dana White said he was planning on Rousey fighting the winner of Holm-Tate in November. Also didn’t happen.

We’d pretty much given up hope until in July when Rousey made a cool ad for Reebok that strongly hinted at her return.

Shortly thereafter though that too was squashed again in August with the prospects of her returning any time soon pretty much dashed.

But now, NOW we think she’s actually going to fight again. Why? Because Dana White said so, and he’s never been wrong before, right?

Speaking to Brazilian newspaper Globo (as translated by MMAFighting), White said he “he is confident Rousey will return before the end of the year to fight Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight championship and that after that, they can look at a Cyborg-Rousey fight again.”

“I think in a perfect world, what everybody would love to see is Ronda vs. Cyborg, so everybody is waiting — I’m sure Cyborg is, too — is the return of Ronda Rousey. When she does return, I’m sure [Rousey is] gonna want to fight for the title, probably defend it and then maybe fight Cyborg. I don’t know. We’ll see how this thing plays out.”

The Sporting News also reported that the fight between Rousey and Nunes would happen at UFC 207 on December 30th in Las Vegas.

Let’s just hope that this time the rumors are true.
