Although Russell Wilson is still under contract with the Seahawks, there is a growing belief in the NFL that he could force his way out of Seattle. The rumors started to swirl late last season and have only picked up steam in recent months.

Sports Illustrated reporter Albert Breer addressed the speculation earlier this week and suggested one top destination for Wilson. There is also a belief that he could end up in Washington based on recent happenings, and that is reportedly not off of the table.

Meanwhile, Wilson is remaining adamant that he will be playing in Seattle in 2022. However, he also sounds very non-affirmative.

Wilson recently joined Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo for a conversation on radio row at the Super Bowl. While there, Russo asked Wilson if he actually wants out of Washington, like reports have said that he does.

In response, Wilson said that his “hope” and “goal” is to be back there.

“I’ve been fortunate to be able to play 10 amazing years in Seattle,” he said. “My hope and goal is to be back there and keep winning there. That’s the vision, that’s the goal. That’s always been it, never been anything different.”

Although it may seem like Wilson wants to play for the Seahawks based on his response, it also could be interpreted as a lack of commitment to the organization. Wilson is a smart guy, he knows what he is saying.

To use the words “hope” and “goal” like he did is not the same as saying “I will be in Seattle this fall and beyond.” It comes off differently, and seems to leave the door open.
