Sahith Theegala poses for a photo with fiancée Juju Chan.
Sahith Theegala’s fiancée, Julianna “Juju” Chan, opened up on a “weird” interaction with an ESPN anchor while in Connecticut for the Travelers Championship. She set the record straight to clear up any misconceptions.
Chan told her side of the story after getting called out on social media. Her soon-to-be husband showed support following the odd turn of events.
Who is Sahith Theegala’s fiancée?
Juju Chan is a former NCAA swimmer and current influencer. She reportedly met Theegala in 2017.
Both attended Pepperdine University in California, where Sahith was a golf star. They went public with their relationship in 2023 and got engaged in 2025.
She’s often seen supporting Theegala from the sidelines during tournaments. She was again by his side for the Travelers Championship this weekend.
While there, she found herself in an awkward situation while at a local coffee shop. An ESPN anchor recognized her and made a point to start a conversation. He claims to have been dismissed.
She says his story was exaggerated.

Gary Striewski posted a video on TikTok earlier in the weekend detailing his interaction with Sahith Theegala’s fiancée.
“I went to a local coffee shop,” he said. “I see one of the golfers and his girlfriend/fiancée/wife, and I know her because she posts a lot. A table opened up next to her, so I went and had a seat… It was just me and her.
“I totally understand people being out in public and not wanting to be bothered, but you also have to understand that if you’re a person that posts constantly and you platform yourself all the time, and somebody recognizes you, that’s part of the territory…
“I leaned over and said, ‘Has anybody spotted you yet?’ That’s it. This was her response. ‘I guess now…’ That was weird.”
Chan cleared air on the odd exchange.
Chan clapped back with her own recollection of what transpired. She, too, agrees that it was weird, but she says the interaction didn’t go down as Striewski claims.
“The interaction that he’s explaining did not happen the way he’s saying it did,” she said. “He’s continuing to let people believe a false narrative…
“I was sitting in this coffee shop. Sahith was getting our coffee… This person comes and sits three inches away from me… As this person is sitting down, (he) directly says, ‘Has anyone spotted you yet?’
“To me, that’s not a normal thing that people would say to me. I don’t know who this person is. It’s a weird comment to me, but I looked over and I just laughed. I said, ‘I guess now.’ I said it lightheartedly. I was uncomfortable with the comment, but I was also trying to laugh it off…
“If he perceived our interaction that way, I’m sorry… but that’s not how it went down. I think it’s extremely unprofessional given the line of work he’s in. To encourage people to hate on me, that’s uncool.”
Clearly, there were two different accounts of what happened. Sahith Theegala backed his fiancée in the comments section of her post.
That guy should have never put you in a position like this… I love you so much and I’m incredibly proud of how you’ve handled it my queen. I see how kind and caring you are to all that interact with you and the people close to us know your real, incredible self.

Theegala would finish -7 in the tournament. After shooting +4 on his first day, he responded with rounds of 67, 67, and 65.
With the event now over, the couple can put the awkward run-in behind them.
