Sam Hartman Ditches Patented Beard, Channels Tom Selleck In Bye Week ‘Thirst Trap’

Sam Hartman warms up before Notre Dame's matchup with USC.

Sam Hartman will look unrecognizable when he takes the field against Pitt at the end of the month. The Notre Dame signal caller shaved his patented beard during the Fighting Irish’s bye week.

That beard has become part of the passer’s identity throughout his college career, but it doesn’t seem like many mind the change.

Hartman has donned a full beard dating back to his days at Wake Forest.

After his big win over USC, though, he decided it was time for a change.

The quarterback ditched the beard and debuted a mustache this week as he goes through his bye week preparations.

Is it part of an upcoming Halloween costume? Getting an early start on “No Shave November?”

Whatever the case, the off-week change has been largely met with approval.

“Sam Hartman posting thirst traps now??”

“Perfection if it was a person.”

“Welp, there go all the women at ND.”

“Rizzzz.”

There were some with negative response, for one reason or another.

“Stop, my girl is on this app.”

“You can’t shave after a win!”

“And just like that, his superpowers are gone.”

Let’s hope that’s not the case as it’s been fun to watch Hartman play his final season in South Bend. Through eight games of work, the signal caller has racked up 1,838 yards and 10 touchdowns to lead the Irish to a 6-2 overall record.

That resume includes wins over No. 17 Duke and No. 10 USC, and he almost pulled off the upset of No. 6 Ohio State if not for a Buckeyes touchdown on the final play of the game.

Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff hopes were dashed after a loss to Louisville in early October, but they still have a chance to finish strong and pick up at least one more signature win (Clemson).

Beard or no beard, let’s hope Hartman continues his success on the field in his final season.
