Madden 21 Bumps Up Saquon Barkley’s Overall Rating After Fans Lose Their Minds On Social Media

Madden 21 ratings have started to be released this week which means it’s that time of the year where fans of certain teams and players get mad online about numbers in a video game.

We’ve already seen the ratings for rookie quarterbacks around the league and know about Patrick Mahomes joining the ‘Madden 99’ club, but the latest ratings involve the top running backs in the league.

Christian McCaffrey is also a member of the ‘Madden 99’ club, and deservedly so, but there’s one running back that seemed to have gotten a raw deal in the initial ratings and that’s Saquon Barkley, at least initially, with an 89 overall.

Interestingly enough, Barkley started out as a 91 overall at the launch of Madden 20 before dropping to an 89 by season’s end. It appears Madden elected to keep him at an 89 overall for the Madden 21 launch.

Giants fans, and those that realized Barkley’s rating was a bit too low, took to social media and blasted EA Sports and Madden for handing out such a low rating.

After taking a virtual beating by critics, EA Sports appears to have bumped Barkley’s overall rating to a more fitting 91.

In the long run, it really didn’t make much sense having Barkley less than a 90 overall.

Madden updates their ratings each week during the NFL season so it will be interesting to see where Barkley and others stand at the end of the year.
