While his son may only be on the New York Giants for a few years, his New York Jets fandom will last forever. At least that’s how Saquon Barkley’s father Alibay Barkley feels, apparently.

The elder Barkley was in attendance at MetLife Stadium on Sunday for the matchup between the New York Giants and New York Jets, and according to reports out of New Jersey, the father of the Pro Bowl running back was wearing Jets gear.

Barkley, who was born in the Bronx, New York, grew up as a New York Jets fan and apparently idolized former Jets Hall of Fame running back Curtis Martin.

Alibay Barkley sort of had the best of both worlds on Sunday, as he got to see both his son play well and the Jets win in overtime by a score of 13-10.

In the loss, which dropped the Giants’ record to 2-6, Barkley was virtually the team’s entire offense as they were down to third-string signal-caller Tommy DeVito following an injury to Tyrod Taylor, who was already filling in for usual starter Daniel Jones.

Barkley wound up carrying the ball a whooping 36 times for 128 yards, while also catching three passes that ultimately went for zero yards.

Despite the fact that the Giants’ season is all but over, reports indicate that the team will not be exploring trading Barkley away prior to tomorrow’s trade deadline.

Luckily for Barkley and the rest of the New York Giants, reports on Monday indicated that QB Daniel Jones had been cleared for contact, paving the way for him to suit up against the Las Vegas Raiders next week.

As for the New York Jets, the win was their third straight after beginning the season at 1-3, thus improving their record to 4-3. Next week, Gang Green will be hosting Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in a game that could wind up being crucial when it comes to the AFC Wild Card Race.
