If the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are truly committed to signing free agent cornerback Terrion Arnold, then it sounds as if they may have to wait a while to do so.

Arnold, the 24th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, played in 24 games, starting 22, over his first two NFL seasons with the Detroit Lions.

However, the Lions parted ways with the 23-year-old over the offseason after he was charged with multiple felonies, including kidnapping and robbery. The charges stemmed from an earlier incident in Arnold’s home state of Florida in which he’s alleged to have orchestrated the kidnapping and armed robbery in retaliation for a pair of thefts from Arnold’s rental property in Largo, Florida.

Even amid the ongoing case, Seattle opted to bring Arnold in for a workout recently and ultimately decided to offer him a contract. However, it now sounds as if they’ll need to wait.

Seattle Seahawks Signing Of Terrion Arnold Put On Hold

According to ESPN’s Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks still want to add Arnold to their team. But it will take time as the league works through the details of his ongoing case.

Additionally, it’s expected that Arnold will be placed on the NFL commissioner-exempt list should he sign. That means that even if he doesn’t complete the deal, he’ll be ineligible to play or practice with the team.

Although Arnold would still be allowed to attend team meetings and would still be paid in the interim.

The two sides reportedly agreed to a one-year, minimum-salary deal, and Arnold chose Seattle over the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints and New York Giants.

“The timetable right now is being worked out,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said Friday. “To my understanding, he’s visited quite a few teams. … We’re working through that on when’s the best time for him to come in, but we have an agreement with him. We’ll see.”
