Alabama center Seth McLaughlin was a talking point after the Crimson Tide’s College Football Playoff loss to Michigan on Monday. Just two days later, he’s entered the transfer portal.

The lineman has been a member of the team since 2020, starting every game for the Tide in the 2023 campaign.

Unfortunately, snap issues in his final game led to criticism.

A number of bad snaps were seen throughout the loss to the Wolverines, most notably on Alabama’s final play. Some speculated that the last delivery altered the outcome of the play, which ended with Jalen Milroe being stopped short of the goal line on fourth down.

Social media users have been quick to comment on that transfer decision.

“Three days too late.”

“Bama fans wishing he had announced this last week…”

“Saban definitely told this kid to pack his bags.”

“Those muffed snaps cost him his job.”

A former four-star recruit, McLaughlin made 24 starts for Alabama, becoming a mainstay along the front five over the last two seasons.

The center anchored a line that ranked No. 4 nationally in scoring as a junior. This past year, he opened holes for Jalen Milroe and a dynamic Crimson Tide rushing attack.

Now, it appears he’ll make his way out of Tuscaloosa. McLaughlin should garner national attention despite those snapping struggles in his latest outing.

He’ll have one more season of NCAA eligibility.
