NBA insider Shams Charania shocked his social media following on Tuesday by breaking some major NFL news. The report surrounded a new Dallas Cowboys signee, and it’s now set the internet on fire.

Charania has long been known for his quick reporting on basketball news. Battling with Adrian Wojnarowski as the top source for trending NBA topics, he’s often first to the scene on draft picks, trades, suspensions, and coaching hires.

But diving into the NFL world??

Tuesday evening, Charania posted an update on X (formerly Twitter) about the Dallas Cowboys adding recently reinstated Martavis Bryant to the roster.

“Breaking news in the NFL,” Charania wrote. “The Dallas Cowboys are signing newly reinstated wide receiver Martavis Bryant to a contract, according to sources. Bryant, who last played for the Raiders in 2018, had 17 touchdowns and 2,183 receiving yards in 44 career games.”

Bryant had previously played for the Steelers and Raiders but landed a year-long suspension in 2016 for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. After failing to adhere to terms in his conditional reinstatement, he was suspended again in 2018.

He’s since bounced around the Canadian Football League, the Indoor Football League, and Fan Controlled Football.

While the fourth-round draft pick’s return to the NFL is noteworthy, most were more shocked by the source.

The immediate reaction online was fantastic.

“Since when does shams do football??”

“Shams is versatile.”

“Adam Schefter is shook right now.”

We’ll see if the trend continues or if it’s a one-time thing.
