Stanford baseball player Temo Becerra has entered the transfer portal. The shortstop made his decision with two weekend series left to play in the regular season.
Becerra is a senior that will have one more year to play at his new school. He’s getting a head start on finding that next destination.
Transfer News: Stanford SS Temo Becerra has entered the portal. Having a career year in which he’s hitting .341/.394/.435 w/ 12 XBH and 36 RBIs. Can play anywhere on the dirt, 55 arm at SS/3B. Plus B2B skills, 90% overall IZ contact rate (94% against FB).pic.twitter.com/EYFqgd1iWl

Becerra is hitting .341 this season, good for the third-best mark in the Cardinal lineup. He’s added 36 RBIs and solid play as a defender. As a result, he’s expected to receive major interest as a transfer.
Transfer portal rules state that graduate transfers can enter at any time. They are exempt from adhering to the typically legislated transfer windows.
Student-athletes who plan to enroll as graduate students at their new school can enter the portal at any time during the academic year but must enter the portal prior to the conclusion of their respective sports’ final transfer windows.

Temo Becerra is taking advantage of that exception. It will be interesting to see if it has an effect on his status throughout the remainder of the year.
Stanford baseball still has slim NCAA Tournament hopes.
The Cardinal are currently 15th in the 16-team ACC standings. They have an opportunity to move up the seed-line for the conference tournament with a strong close to the year.
When news of the infielder’s decision initially broke, they were gearing up for a weekend series against Grand Canyon. Becerra played in all three games, going 4-13 with four RBIs.
No change in that status has been announced ahead of a season-ending series against NC State. Should he remain in the Stanford baseball lineup, it would be safe to assume he’d be available for the ensuing ACC Tournament.
As of now, the Cardinal are on the outside looking in when it comes to the NCAA Tournament field. Luckily, all 16 teams earn a spot in the conference tournament, keeping the door ever-so-slightly open on an NCAA Regional appearance.
Stanford can book an automatic bid with an ACC Tournament title. We’ll see if Becerra is able to help them achieve that goal.
