Texas Coach Steve Sarkisian Under Fire Over Mistreatment Of ESPN Employee Prior To Alamo Bowl

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns had high hopes heading into the 2022 college football season.

The Longhorns returned Heisman Trophy candidate running back Bijan Robinson and brought in superstar freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers from Ohio State.

Sarkisian and Texas went just 5-7 in their first season together in 2021. But this was the year things were going to be different.

In the early going, it even looked that way. Despite a shoulder injury that took Ewers out of the game, the Longhorns battled the Alabama Crimson Tide before falling 20-19 on a last-second field goal in Week 2.

It appeared that if the Longhorns could just get through a relatively light part of their schedule without Ewers, they could be real contenders once he returned. But that’s not what happened.

Robinson had a key fumble in overtime in a 37-34 loss to in-state rival Texas Tech. Ewers then returned for a 49-0 beatdown of Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout. But the Horns went just 4-2 down the stretch to finish with an 8-4 record and a spot in the Alamo Bowl against 10-2 Washington.

Perhaps the way the season went left a bad taste in the mouth of Sarkisian. Because he looked none-too-pleased prior to the Alamo Bowl kickoff.

Steve Sarkisian Berates ESPN Work Prior To Run Outs For Alamo Bowl

A video emerged Friday of Sarkisian and his team in the tunnel prior to running out before the Alamo Bowl. As per usual, what looks like an ESPN employee had an arm out “holding” Sarkisian and the team back before the game producer let him know that cameras were ready to capture the Longhorns’ run out.

That seemed to incense the head coach.

Sarkisian then turns to the worker and gets in his face, appearing to yell “Don’t f-ng touch me like that.”

Fans were unimpressed with his antics in the video.

Perhaps Sarkisian could’ve saved some of that energy for the game, as the Longhorns went on to lose to the Huskies, 27-20.
