I’ve reached an age where all of the kids who never left the town I went to high school in have started to pump out kids which means my Facebook feed largely consists of pictures of babies and videos of gender reveals (none of which are even close to being as entertaining as the one featuring Gordon Hayward trying to mask his disappointment after finding out he’s having yet another daughter).
Look— I get it. Having a kid is a life-changing experience and I can understand why you’d want to share your joy with the world— especially when you’re cooped up in your house and social media is your only real way to stay in contact with the rest of the world. However, it can get kind of exhausting to the point of absurd when everyone describes their “little angel” as “gorgeous” or “beautiful” when virtually every newborn looks like a shrunken-down version of the Michelin Man.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t be proud but I think everyone would be better off if we just called a spade a spade.
I can say with absolute certainty I have never paid any real attention to a birth announcement but that’s all changed now after Stipe Miocic recently became a father. On Tuesday, he introduced Meelah Claire Miocic to the world with the help of the only man for the job: legendary UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer.
Meelah Claire Miocic we love and adore you. We never knew our hearts could feel this amount of love. You have shown us the meaning of life! We can’t wait to spend forever loving you!

I guess it’s time for me to find out how much the guy who emcees the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest would charge me if I ever have a kid.
