A few years ago, New Jersey surfer Ben Gravy became the first surfer in America to ride a wave in all 50 states, a challenge that took him 3 years to complete. Last week, he became the first surfer in the world to surf the 7 seas in 7 days, a trip that took him over 30,000 miles in a week.

Mr. Gravy’s trip began in Tokyo, Japan where he surfed the North Pacific. From there Ben Gravy (real name Benjamin Graeff) flew to Bali, Indonesia to surf the Indian Ocean. He then flew from Bali to Melbourne, Australia to surf the Southern Ocean and from Melbourne he went to Sydney to surf the South Pacific.

Leaving Australia, he flew to Galveston, Texas to surf the Gulf of Mexico (South Atlantic) and after that went to Atlantic City, NJ to surf the North Atlantic. Then he was off to Hardstad, Norway to surf the Arctic Ocean, capping off his epic 7 seas in 7 days surfing trip.

Gravy documented his epic trip on Instagram and YouTube. He traveled over 30,000 miles on commercial airlines in 7 days with 72 hours spent on commercial flights. Here is Ben’s first sesh of the world record-setting trip starting in Japan:

Ben was catching clean waves in Bali before heading to Bells Beach. Gravy described Bells Beach as a “dream come true.”

Surfing attracts adventurous athletes who travel the globe in search of new waves but Ben Gravy is on a whole new level.

Back in May, he was surfing ‘tsunami waves‘ in the frozen waters of Alaska. One of those frozen tsunami waves was a 15 minute ride. Suffice it to say this isn’t the last time we see Ben Gravy breaking surfing records by completing challenges other folks haven’t even dreamt up yet.
