Five-Star Texas A&M Commit Terry Bussey Wears Texas Gloves During Record-Setting State Title Game Performance

There may not be a better high school sporting event than the Texas High School State Football Championships. Twelve championship contests are played every year over four days at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Some of the biggest names and legends in Texas football have made their mark in state championship games. And, five-star athlete Terry Bussey added his name to the long list of standout performances.

Bussey, one of the top-ranked players in the class of 2024, starred for his hometown high school, Timpson, as they rolled to a 49-7 victory in the UIL Class 2A Division I Championship Game on Wednesday.

The Texas A&M commit plays as a quarterback for Timpson, which has a total enrollment in grades 9-12 of only around 180 kids. That’s incredibly small, to say the least.

But, this kid can really play. He had a 97-yard touchdown pass and a 93-yard touchdown run in the first half of the contest. For the game, he had 311 passing yards, 155 rushing yards, and six total touchdowns. Good grief.

He set the division record for longest pass completion and run in state championship history and brought the tiny East Texas town of less than 1000 people their first state championship.

Currently, Terry Bussey is committed to Texas A&M. But, with Jimbo Fisher’s firing and Mike Elko’s hiring as head coach of the program, his recruitment has opened up a little bit. Yesterday, he wore Texas gloves prior to the game, and LSU and USC are also believed to be in the mix.

Whoever ultimately signs the stud will get a player they can put at nearly any position on the field and make an impact. No matter what happens at the next level, he will always be remembered in the Lonestar State for his incredible state title-winning performance
