The Houston Texans are leaving no stone unturned in fortifying their offensive line for rookie quarter C.J. Stroud this upcoming season.

Following the contract extension of left tackle Laremy Tunsil earlier in the year, the team has now locked in right tackle Tytus Howard with a significant three-year deal, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The extension, valued at a staggering $56 million, comes with $36.5 million in guaranteed money, making it a substantial commitment to the 2019 first-round pick.

Tytus Howard has proven himself as a crucial asset for the Texans, starting in all 54 games he has played since joining the team.

While Howard has shown strong skills in pass protection and displayed remarkable versatility by playing at multiple positions, his run-blocking capabilities have been relatively weaker. Nonetheless, his consistent performance and dependability have earned him this lucrative extension.

The Texans have been making strategic moves in the offseason, not only securing their offensive tackle duo but also locking in right guard Shaq Mason to a contract extension.

With these key signings, the team aims to build a formidable offensive line to protect their new franchise quarterback, C.J. Stroud, who was selected as the second overall pick.
