Texas A&M Sends Max Johnson Impostor Out For Warmups Against Mississippi State

The Texas A&M Aggies will take any advantage they can get right now.

That apparently includes sending an imposter dressed as quarterback Max Johnson out for warmups prior to their against Mississippi State.

The Aggies, 5-4, host the Bulldogs on Saturday night hoping to get bowl eligible.

But they’ll be without both original starter Conner Weigman, who’s out for the season with a foot injury, and replacement Max Johnson.

Johnson sustained a rib injury in the Aggies’ 38-35 loss to Ole Miss last weekend and was a doubt for the game against Mississippi State.

But head coach Jimbo Fisher did not give any indication whether or not he’d be available to play against the Bulldogs.

“Max was able to finish the game, was a couple off tough shots, but we’ll wait and see how it goes,” he said Monday. “But he should be good. I’m planning on him playing and hopefully we’ll see as it goes day-by-day.”

Prior to the contest, we got out answer.

Texas A&M sent someone out for warmups in Johnson’s No. 14 and they quickly began to throw. But it didn’t take long before members of media realized that the man, who was throwing left-handed, like Johnson, was not in fact the Aggies’ backup quarterback.

Nobody seemed to actually know who it was (insert Connor Stalions joke) warming up for TAMU. But one thing was clear, it was absolutely not Johnson.

Eventually, fans and beat writers cracked the code.

The player in question was junior quarterback Blake Bost. Bost currently wears No. 23, but had worn No. 14 in years prior.

Texas A&M claim there was no intent to deceive Mississippi State. But it would seem odd for Bost to wear his old gear for any other reason.

Fresno State transfer Jaylen Henderson is ultimately set to get the start for the Aggies. With any luck, the Bulldogs will be caught off guard when they see him, not Johnson, enter the game.
