Texas put a whoopin’ on Oklahoma State during the Big 12 Championship on Saturday. The Cowboys struggled to get anything going on offense. Running back Ollie Gordon looked awfully silly.

The 19-year-old sophomore talked big talk on the field at AT&T Stadium during pregame. He ran up and down the sideline before kickoff and yelled “f— Texas” loud enough for everybody to hear.

Those who were not with earshot witnessed the savagery online.

Gordon’s comments must have made their way back to the Longhorns’ locker room because they played angry all night and allowed just 281 yards of offense. 250 of them came in the air.

Now, to be fair, Oklahoma State fell behind early and abandoned the run in a hurry. However, even before that point, Gordon’s efforts were entirely unsuccessful— which led him to freak out and smash his helmet in rage near his team bench.

The Pokes totaled only 31 yards rushing. Gordon had 13 carries for 34 yards.

As soon as the game ended, Texas senior linebacker Jaylan Ford made sure to remind everybody of the opposing running back’s terrible day. He talked his talk in pregame but did not walk the walk.

Tough look for Gordon. Really, really tough look.

There is a time and a place to yell “f— Texas.” It was not on the field, as a big underdog, in front of cameras. Those comments should have been kept in the locker room, away from the public eye.

Lesson learned.

Gordon was one of the best ball-carriers in the country down the back stretch of the season. He essentially led Oklahoma State to the Big 12 title game by himself. The Cowboys don’t get to play the Longhorns without him.

He then proceeded to fuel the opponents’ fire. Before the biggest college football game of their careers.

Not a good idea!

Although much of Gordon’s struggles in Arlington were on the offensive line, and a result of a stifling defense, for him to average less than three yards per carry after cursing their name is so brutal. It really doesn’t get much more embarrassing than that.

And, clearly, the Texas team did not forget. Nor did they want Gordon to forget!
