Academy Award-nominated actor Timothee Chalamet was in San Antonio to watch the New York Knicks close out the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals to clinch their first championship since 1973. The A-list longtime fan got to party with the team like he was a member of the squad, too.
After the final whistle blew, Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet was on the court, sharing in the euphoria with the team. While soaking the moment in, Chalamet looked at the camera and said he’d rather watch the New York Knicks win the NBA Finals than take home an Academy Award — perhaps referencing a popular joke on social media that Chalamet “made a deal with the devil” to sacrifice winning Best Actor for Marty Supreme to instead see the Knicks in the title.

Once the party moved into the locker room, Chalamet followed to gas up Finals MVP Jalen Brunson — who had 45 points in the series-clinching Game 5 victory — and pop bottles with the rest of the team, who clearly had no problem with the Dune franchise star joining them in the jubilation.
He did suffer a bit of a champagne injury as he got the bubbly sprayed in his eyes. Chalamet refused to wear goggles, though, saying because he doesn’t deserve them the way the players do.
The celebrations didn’t settle in San Antonio, though, as the Knicks decided to fly back to New York to continue the party, with TC hopping on a private jet alongside other Knicks’ friends, family and VIPs.

On his Instagram Story, Chalamet also shared videos of a booze-soaked New York Post sports page declaring the Knicks champions, his front row seats to the Knicks lifting the Larry O’Brien trophy and singing “Who let the dogs out?”, and a serendipitously orange-and-blue sky rising over New York City while on the jet back.
Lucky for Chalamet, now that he’s seen the Knicks win the NBA title, he’ll likely be able to experience both feats in his lifetime, as he’s already been nominated for Best Actor three times (Call Me By Your Name, A Complete Unknown, Marty Supreme) and is the youngest male actor to earn three Best Actor nominations since Marlon Brandon. Timmy’s Oscar win is largely considered to be a matter of when and not if.
