Things are looking pretty grim these days for our old buddy Tom Terrific. Sure, Tom Brady has won seven Super Bowls and is still being paid an obscene amount of money to play quarterback in the nFL. But the rest of Brady’s life appears to be falling apart.

Never mind the fact that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just 3-3 and Brady is losing it on his teammates.

Away from the field, everything seems to be going to sh-…poop, for our guy Tom. Brady took time away from the Bucs in the preseason to try to repair his failing marriage to Giselle Bundchen. That didn’t appear to work and the two are now reportedly staring down the barrel of an ugly divorce.

But at least he can take solace in football, right?

Wrong.

Tom Brady Compares NFL Season To Military Deployment, Appears To Explain Marriage Issues

Brady spoke with NBA superstar Kevin Durant on the latest episode of his “Let’s Go” podcast and said that NFL seasons feel like “going away on deployment for the military.”

“I almost look at like a football season like you’re going away on deployment for the military,” Brady said. “And it’s like, ‘Man, here I go again.'”

“The reality is,” he continued, “is you can really only be authentic to yourself. Right? Whatever you may say — ‘Ah, man, I want to, you know, make sure I spend a little more time doing this during the season,’ the reality is, is when it comes down to it, your competitiveness takes over and as much as you want to have this playful balance with the work balance — you’re going to end up doing exactly what you’ve always done, which is why you are who you are.” – via TMZ

Beyond highlighting how tough an NFL season is, the comments seem to elaborate on Brady’s football obsession that has reportedly caused the rift between him and Bundchen.

It also may further explain a recent Instagram comment by Bundchen that many assumed was aimed at Brady. Beyond angering Bundchen, it’s hard to imagine the comment will sit well with fans who’ve actually dealt with military deployment and the strain it can put on relationships.
