The Georgia Bulldogs have officially parted ways with head coach Tom Crean.

Crean’s coaching performance in Athens was awful. Off the court issues didn’t help, either.

The team went just 6-26 this year to finish in the cellar of the SEC standings. The Bulldogs went 1-17 in conference play and were eliminated in the opening round of the SEC Tournament on Wednesday, falling by 35 points to a .500 Vanderbilt squad.

The poor showing, which was one of many throughout Crean’s tenure, effectively ended Georgia’s season.

Crean spent four seasons in Athens, finishing with a winning record just once. He never finished better than 10th in the SEC, landing at 13th or worse in three of those four campaigns.

Hell, Crean couldn’t even win with No. 1 overall pick Anthony Edwards, finishing 16-16 in Edwards’ lone year with the Bulldogs. It’s not a surprise that Georgia opted to part ways.

Crean came to Athens with a ton of expectation. He went to five NCAA Tournaments with Marquette, including a Final Four. He then led Indiana on four trips to the Big Dance. The Hoosiers haven’t been back since Crean’s departure.

For whatever reason, though, it never worked out at Georgia.

This insane stat relating to the football team shows just how bad Crean’s stint with the Bulldogs actually was.

The Georgia Football Team Has More Wins Than The Bulldog Basketball Squad Of Late

Things have been bad on the basketball floor for Georgia of late, but this crazy stat shows the disappointing level that things have gotten to.

And it’s almost too ridiculous to believe.

Yes, you read that right.

The Bulldog football team has more wins over the last year and a half than the Georgia basketball team.

While Kirby Smart did lead the ‘Dawgs to a 14-1 record and national title last year, the stat is still incredibly absurd.

Since December 21, 2021, Georgia football is 15-1. This dates back to the Bulldogs’ bowl win over Cincinnati in the 2021 Peach Bowl.

The basketball team, meanwhile, has played 52 games over that time. Of those 52 contests, they’ve posted 14 wins to 38 losses.

Yikes.

The Bulldogs will try to pick up the pieces over the offseason as they hope to find some success on the court next year.
