Toronto Raptors Reveal OVO Nike Jerseys And Drake-Inspired Special Edition Court

Two weeks ago, Nike rolled out their City Edition NBA jerseys that celebrated each team’s neighborhood and the franchise’s history. “With City Edition, we felt like this could be really compelling to make a true connection of, still the organization, but the organization in reflection to their city and their community,” said Nike senior graphic designer Elesban Montoya. We not only get to see the City Edition jersey for the Toronto Raptors that are Drake-influenced, but also a special edition court that is OVO-inspired.

Nike said their City Edition designs honor the fans “who, 41 times a year, take pilgrimage at their local arena, and whose passions help define each respective team’s identity.” The Raptors City Edition uniforms feature six points which represent the six boroughs of Toronto. The word “NORTH” on the front is not because they are Game of Thrones fans who are #TeamStark, but rather to “represent a territory all our own” and it goes with the Raptor’s mantra of “We The North.” The black and gold color scheme and chevron are influenced by Drake’s OVO logo.

The Raptors will debut the OVO jerseys on Friday, January 26th when they host the Utah Jazz. In addition to the Drake-inspired jerseys, the Raptors will have a special edition home court that will look like the City Edition jerseys.

Let’s hope for the Raptors’ sake that Drake doesn’t jump ship and become a Golden State Warriors fan, which could definitely happen since he got tattoos of Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant this week.
