Travis Hunter took a little heat from a recruit on National Signing Day for following Deion Sanders to Jackson State. The former No. 1 overall prospect has now responded to the player on social media.

Five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams committed to play for Florida State back in September, giving the Seminoles a pledge from the 15th-best player in the country according to 24/7 Sports.

Much like Travis Hunter, who originally committed to FSU, Williams’ recruitment came down to the wire. Miami and Georgia were still prioritizing the pass catcher, hoping to flip him at the last possible moment.

But unlike Hunter, Williams stuck with his commitment.

Hunter notably flipped his pledge from the Seminoles to Jackson State last recruiting season, choosing to follow Deion Sanders to the HBCU ranks as the gem of the Tigers’ class. Sanders, who’s now moved on to Colorado, reportedly reached out to Hykeem Williams just before putting pen to paper with the ‘Noles in hopes of pulling the receiver to Boulder.

Williams responded to the unsuccessful attempt to sway him by taking a shot at Hunter.

“Ain’t no Travis Hunter over here. We locked in. It’s time to work.”

The top ranked defensive back took offense to the comment, and quickly fired back with a social media response.

“Could never be me,” Hunter replied to Williams’ statement. He obviously didn’t appreciate the shot, starting a back and forth between the defender and wideout.

Williams said, “You right, I’m solid,” after seeing Hunter’s commentary, creating a bit of a rivalry between the two P5-bound players.

Travis Hunter has doubled down on his commitment to Deion Sanders, announcing Wednesday that he plans to transfer to Colorado. Hykeem Williams, meanwhile, will suit up for the Seminoles in 2023.
