Tua Tagovailoa’s first three years in the NFL have not been abysmal, but they have not been overly impressive. The Dolphins were very bad, his supporting cast was not particularly valuable in terms of their ability to hide poor quarterback play, and there was toxicity between Tagovailoa and Brian Flores.
This year, the former Alabama quarterback is hoping that things will start to trend in the other direction — upward.
First-year head coach Mike McDaniel is the new, cool hip guy in the league with a vast offensive knowledge. The Dolphins added a few crucial weapons on offense, highlighted by Tyreek Hill and tackle Terron Armstead. And Tagovailoa looks healthier and happier than ever before.
In the first look at the 2020 first round draft pick in Miami for training camp, he has a very visible energy that wasn’t there in the same way in years prior. He also was noticeably thicker than ever before.
It is very clear that Tua Tagovailoa has been in the weight room during the offseason because his legs are massive.
It is also very clear that he was on a high-calorie diet during the offseason because it looks like he has been eating eating.

Tagovailoa’s private quarterback coach posted a note about how proud he is of his client for his work and transition. He also made a good point that this fall will be the first that Tagovailoa is fully healthy.

The hopes are high in Miami and Tagovailoa will be at the forefront of the Dolphins’ success or failures in 2022. If his newfound pep, size and technique are any indication, good things could be on their way.
