Social media has done a great job of bringing out the worst in some sports fans. This is especially true in the MMA world. It seems like just about everybody who has thrown on a pair of gloves and fought on television has had some loser behind a computer screen tell them they could beat them up.
The fighters usually don’t engage and if they do, it’s usually just to get something really quotable out of the troll before they share the conversation on Twitter.That was not the route Kevin Holland chose to take.
A troll DMed Holland on Twitter to let him know that he could make Holland tap out if they grappled against each other. After the first message, he continued to heckle Holland until eventually Holland chose to do something about it.
He invited this troll to his gym to test his theory. It went about as well as everybody except possibly the troll would have expected.
Whatever you do, if you are going to talk trash to an MMA fighter, you absolutely cannot allow yourself to get tapped by a D’Arce choke in under 30 seconds. It’s an even worse look than the initial trolling.
This guy should have known that Kevin Holland is no slouch. Holland is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is currently the 14th ranked middleweight in the UFC. He currently holds a 21-7 record with 1 No Contest for his career and is 8-4 with a No Contest in the UFC.
Hopefully this will serve as a warning to the next person that thinks they have what it takes to take on a professional fighter.
