The Urban Meyer era in Jacksonville was an absolute rollercoaster, and not a fun rollercoaster, either, it was more like the rollercoaster in ‘Final Destination.’ Meyer’s time as the Jaguars’ head coach ended rather horrifically as well as he was fired shortly after he was accused of kicking the team’s former kicker, Josh Lambo.

Lambo himself was the one who shared the story of allegedly being kicked by Meyer.

At that point of his tenure in Jacksonville, all that was needed to get Meyer fired was an accusation. His team was a laughing stock and there were the videos of him getting danced on by a blonde that wasn’t his wife at a restaurant, among about 47 other negative reports coming out of Jacksonville.

Meyer has kept a low profile since the accusations and being let go by the Jags, but he joined Dan Dakick of Outkick on Monday and addressed Lambo’s kicking story.

“When you come out and say that there was a player kick, that’s not true, that’s not true at all” Meyer explained. “Of course there was accountability and hard conversations like that, but I was like ‘what are you talking about?'”

“I do take ownership into the fact that how you go about pushing, it’s 2022, or was 2021, but I just have to own it.”

Meyer Says He ‘Tapped’ Lambo With His Foot, Didn’t Kick Him

Dakich straight up asked Meyer if he kicked Lambo and while he denied kicking him, he did make an interesting comment about tapping him with his foot.

“I certainly did not (kick the kicker). To say I didn’t tap him with my foot, but to kick someone? I’ve done this 37 years, kick a player? Other players came up to me and said they saw the whole thing because I had mostly forgotten about it.”

Anyone with a head on their shoulders would agree that ‘kicking’ and ‘tapping a player with your foot’ are two entirely different things. However, without video evidence, we have to take Meyer’s word or Lambo’s word, and given Meyer’s track record it’s safe to say most folks out there would give Lambo the benefit of the doubt.
