Vanessa Bryant, who it was reported this week is seeking damages in the “hundreds of millions” in a lawsuit over the deaths of her husband Kobe and daughter Gianna, took some time this week to get two new tattoos honoring her late loved ones.

Bryant and tattoo artist Nikko Hurtado shared video of Vanessa getting the new tattoos. Bryant captioned one the video of her receiving the neck tattoo, “I wanted my boo boo’s @kobebryant sweet message transferred on me. @nikkohurtado came through for me. Thank you!”

On the other video, showing her getting a tattoo on her wrist, Vanessa wrote, “Shoutout to @nikkohurtado for coming over and helping me get my Gigi’s sweet message transferred on me.”

“Truly honored to give you something to keep with you my friend,” wrote Hurtado on Instagram.

Bryant didn’t reveal what the two messages were, but back on Monday, May 4, the day before her 38th birthday, Vanessa wrote on Instagram that she had recently discovered a letter Kobe had written to her, but she had not read yet.

“Yesterday I found an envelope labeled To: The Love of my Life. From, Tu Papi. I waited to open one more letter on my birthday. It gave me something to look forward to today,” Bryant revealed.

“The irony is that Kobe had a photo of me drawn with an Angel holding me up by an artist on the cover. Missing the Love of my Life and my sweet little Mamacita – my fellow Taurus. Grateful to wake up to my 3 sweet girls today. Wish we were all together. #MyBirthdayWish”

Perhaps something in that letter is what inspired her to get the two new tattoos.

Kobe and Vanessa would have celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary in April.

A few days ago, Harbor Day School where Gianna Bryant attended, also honored her with a photo of her retired basketball jersey on what would have been her 8th grade graduation.
