Virginia AD Caught Liking Tweets Roasting Basketball Team’s Pathetic Play-In Game Performance

Virginia’s men’s basketball team saw its season end following a truly horrendous showing against Colorado State in the First Four on Tuesday night, and it seems like the school’s athletic director sympathized with the many fans who were shocked at the show of talent (or lack thereof) that was on display.

There were plenty of people who didn’t think the Virginia Cavaliers had even earned the right to attempt to earn the right to be among the final 64 teams in the NCAA Tournament based on their performance during the regular season (especially when you consider the number of Big East teams with a seemingly better résumé who had their March Madness dreamed dashed after being snubbed on Selection Sunday).

However, UVA nonetheless had the chance to prove the haters wrong when they faced off against Colorado State in a showdown to determine who’d go head-to-head with Texas as a 10-seed. Unfortunately, they didn’t even come close to making a case for themselves.

The Cavaliers scored a whopping 14 points in the first half while being held scoreless for the final 9:20 of that frame (they also needed more than three minutes to score in the second). When everything was said and done, they hit just 25% of their field goals in a 67-42 blowout at the hands of a Rams squad that will face off against the Longhorns on Thursday night.

College Basketball Twitter was flooded with posts roasting UVA for their dismal showing, and it appears some of them popped up on the radar of AD Carla G. Williams, who was caught liking a number of critical tweets that were posted during the contest (although it seems like she backtracked once the world caught wind of that activity).

Of course, likes do not necessarily equal endorsements, but it’s kind of strange to think Williams would’ve gone out of her way to like those tweets if she didn’t agree with the sentiments that were shared by the vast majority of people who were subjected to what unfolded on Tuesday.
