The West Virginia Mountaineers basketball team was on their way to a pretty successful offseason not too long ago.

The managed to hold on to a couple of key players from last year’s roster while also bringing in some big additions in the transfer portal.

Those additions included former Syracuse star Jesse Edwards, former Montana State star RaeQuan Battle, and former Arizona guard Kerr Kriisa.

Unfortunately, Bob Huggins’ off-court issues brought the success of this offseason to a halt.

With him resigning, some of those key players they either kept or brought in are now heading for the transfer portal.

In fact, one of the player that they landed in the portal has decided to re-enter it following the news of Huggins’ resignation.

According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, Kerr Kriisa has decided that he will be heading back into the portal.

Kriisa won’t be the only guard leaving the Mountaineers as college basketball insider Jon Rothstein has reported that Joe Toussaint is also headed for the portal.

They’ll be joining last year’s 3rd leading scoring for the Mountaineers, Tre Mitchell, in the portal after he decided to leave West Virginia yesterday.

It has all fallen apart pretty quickly for the Mountaineers, but these players luckily shouldn’t have too much trouble finding their next team.

Kerr Kriisa had plenty of teams interested in him after 2 years as the starting point guard for Arizona.

Toussaint wasn’t a starter for the West Virginia Mountaineers last season, but shouldn’t have much trouble finding teams that want a guy that averaged almost 10 points per game off the bench.

These are probably far from the last losses for the West Virginia program following Bob Huggins’ resignation.
