Remember the WWE wrestler Kane? How could you forget about the 6-foot-8 323-pound wrestler who wore the horrifying serial killerish blood-red mask? Well that guy, whose real name is Glenn Jacobs, is now a mayor. Like a real-life mayor who will make decisions that will affect hundreds of thousands of people. It’s really true, anybody can get into politics.
The WWE villain formerly known as “Big Red Machine” was elected as the mayor of Tennessee’s Knox County. This isn’t some small town either, Knox County has a population over 430,000 and is the third-most populous county in Tennessee. Jacobs has been living in Knox County since 1995 where they have a real estate and insurance business.

Jacobs, the Republican who leans Libertarian, easily defeated Linda Haney, the Democratic nominee. On Thursday, the former heavyweight champion won nearly two-thirds of the 80,000 total votes. Kane did not wear his iconic red mask during his campaign, a questionable decision, but in the end, it worked out for him. Here’s what Glenn Jacobs the Mayor looks like. Let’s hope that the reporter didn’t ask Jacobs any inflammatory questions.

“This professional wrestler got into a no-holds-barred, last-man-standing match, and when the bell rung, he was victorious, we were victorious.” the 51-year-old Jacobs said. “Millions of people have watched me perform live. Who would have thought that all this could happen to a guy like me? Well, it could only happen in America.”

Jacob’s campaign website lists “7 Issues that Matter to Knox County.”
- Committed to keeping taxes low
- Renewed focus on quality of education
- Continue to attract new jobs to the area
- Improve our roads and infrastructure
- Full and absolute transparency
- Work to create safer communities
- A fresh outlook on limited government
Many notable WWE personalities including Jim Ross and Goldust congratulated Kane on his victory as well as Kentucky Senator Rand Paul.

Jacobs will officially become mayor of Knox County on Sept. 1. With Kane becoming a mayor and Jesse “The Body” Ventura being elected as Minnesota’s governor from 1999 – 2003, is it time for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to run for President of the United States in 2020?
