Wyndham Clark wrapped up his opening round at The Masters at one-over par, good for a tie for 42nd place in the field. That first round score put him eight strokes behind leader Bryson DeChambeau, but he doesn’t seem worried in the least.

Clark threw a jab at both DeChambeau and LIV Golf as a whole during a post-round interview on Thursday. He just couldn’t help himself!

DeChambeau started his day a little after 11 AM local time, shortly after a weather delay which pushed the start of the tournament. That brief postponement didn’t seem to have an effect.

The LIV member started hot with three straight birdies to hop out in front of the pack, ending his first nine at -2 after a bogey on the ninth hole.

He’d then finish on a tear with five birdies across his final seven holes to end the day at seven-under.

Clark, meanwhile, saw a similar start – birdying three holes on the front to get to -3. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t see the same success on his second nine.

Wyndham Clark sandwiched two bogeys on No. 11 and 18 around a double bogey at No. 15, seeing that -3 quickly turn into a +1.

Despite the rocky finish, he didn’t seem worried about his chances moving forward.

“We’ve got 54 holes left,” he said while speaking to a reporter about his Day 1 performance. “In LIV Golf, they only play 54, so I like my chances. We have a lot of golf left. As you can see, someone shot seven-under. I can do that tomorrow.”

Those comments are not a surprise when considering his outlook on the league as a whole.

In the past, he’s been heard saying he chose “legacy over LIV” after being recruited to swap sides from the PGA Tour, referencing world rankings in that response. He decided Thursday was another perfect opportunity to hit his so-called rivals below the belt!

Bryson DeChambeau is one of 13 LIV members playing at The Masters this weekend, with CEO Greg Norman also in Augusta to show his support. He’s certainly happy to see one of “his guys” atop the standings at Day 1’s end.

We’ll see if Clark can reverse course on Friday and climb back up the leaderboard.
