A scary incident unfolded in a game between the Yankees and Orioles when a cameraman was struck by an off-target throw. The throw occurred as the O’s attempted to turn a double play but ended in disaster.

The relay attempt to first base sailed well over the head of Ryan O’Hearn, making its way into the dugout. An unsuspecting member of the broadcast crew was then hit in the head, resulting in a trip to the hospital.

Here’s a replay of the unfortunate incident.

The game was briefly stopped following the injury, and the cameraman would be taken off the field on a stretcher.

Thankfully, fans received a positive update on the crew member’s status after the game. All signs point up according to the YES Network.

The broadcast said that Pete Stendel was “conscious and undergoing tests in the hospital” after being struck in the head by the baseball.

Stendel gave fans in attendance a peace sign as he was escorted out of Yankee Stadium, and he’s hopefully on his way to a quick recovery.

Fans offered their thoughts and prayers on social media. They can’t wait to see the cameraman back in action.

One person wrote, “Speedy recovery Pete! No one can run faster than you with that mountain camera.”

Another follower commented, “MVPETE!”

This baseball fan noted the seriousness of the incident by saying, “Scary. Wishing him the very best!”

He appears to be in good spirits. Hopefully, the cameraman will be back to watching the Yankees very, very soon.
