The free agent market is nearly closed.

The Major League Baseball season is right around the corner, and a number of high-profile free agents have found new homes ahead of opening day.

Things will certainly look different come April. There will be a ton of popular faces in very new places.

Freddie Freeman is off to Los Angeles after a 12-year career in Atlanta. Trevor Story is leaving Colorado for Boston. Corey Seager and Marcus Semien will form a tag team in Texas. Max Scherzer has found a new home in the Big Apple.

One organization that wasn’t able to land a big name on the free agent market was the New York Yankees.

The most storied team in Major League Baseball was spurned numerous times as talented stars chose other suitors rather than don the pinstripes.

The baseball world is reacting, and the Yankees are quickly becoming the butt of offseason jokes.

Social Media Reacts To Yankees Misses In Free Agency

The Yankees have missed on opportunities to land star power this offseason.

After seeming to be the favorite to land Freddie Freeman, Trevor Story, Carlos Correa, and Corey Seager at one point or another, management swung and missed in contract negotiations with each.

Now, New York fans are left wondering what could’ve been. They’ve also been quick to point the finger at GM Brian Cashman.

New York will hope to contend this year despite not making a splash in free agency. It looks like the Yankees will hope to utilize their talented farm system to improve future rosters.
