The cause of death of EDM superstar Avicii has been a topic of discussion since his body was found on April 20th while vacationing in Oman. It was easy to assume that the 28-year-old’s death came in the wake of health complications stemmed from pancreatitis or his heavy drinking that ultimately caused him to lose his gall bladder and appendix. It was even reported from an anonymous Oman official that there was no foul play involved in Avicii’s death.

Now, multiple sources close to the incident say that the famous DJ took his own life, something that his parent’s alluded to in an open letter last week.

Via TMZ,

Our sources say the method of death was a shard of glass that caused massive bleeding. Two sources tell us Avicii broke a bottle and used the glass to inflict the fatal wound. One of the sources says it was a wine bottle.

Two sources tell us the point of injury was Avicii’s neck but another strongly denies that, saying it was his wrist. We cannot confirm this, but the sources were privy to specific information about Avicii’s death.

Avicii’s character has shown through even after his death, as large sums from his estimated $72 million fortune were donated to charity.
