Nicolas Cage isn’t the only 90s star to have a major Hollywood renaissance over the last year or so, as Brendan Fraser — courtesy of an incoming Best Actor nomination for his work in The Whale — is also blazing a comeback trail.

After slowly but surely rebuilding his career in recent years, Fraser’s A-list resurrection is all but complete as he’s not only one of the favorites to win the Oscar for Best Actor, but he’s also set to star in Martin Scorsese’s new movie, Killers of the Flower Moon, later this year.

Given his recent career turnaround, Fraser has obviously been asked about the franchise that made him a star in the first place, The Mummy, which saw him star in three films from 1999 to 2008.

During a recent interview with Deadline, Fraser discussed how he feels about making a fourth Mummy film while also displaying the self-deprecating charm that will likely carry him to an Academy Award win.

“Gosh, I don’t know any juicy details about it,” he joked. “But it’s kind of an open-ended question for some time now. I’m not opposed to it. I don’t know an actor that doesn’t want a job. I don’t think I’ve been this famous and unsalaried at the same time in my professional life, so sign me up,” Fraser said in an interview with Deadline.

In the 20-plus years since The Mummy — which made over $415 million at the box office against an $80 million budget — the film has become something of a cult classic, as movie fans (at least on social media) will often find themselves longing for adult-skewing action-adventure films like this one.

The Whale, which was directed by Black Swan filmmaker Darren Aronofsky and also stars Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, is now playing in theaters.
