Camila Cabello Carrying A Block Of Ice At The Met Gala Drew So Many Reactions

Every year celebrities show up in the weirdest outfits at the Met Gala, usually based on whatever the theme happens to be that year.

The 2024 Met Gala was no different. This year the theme was “The Garden of Time” and there was no shortage of WTF happening on the red carpet.

Lana Del Rey showed up wearing a crown of thorns. Tyla appeared in an outfit made of actual sand. Rita Ora and Doja Cat basically showed up naked.

All very weird.

But perhaps the strangest look spotted on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet had nothing to do with an outfit, but instead was Camila Cabello’s very unusual accessory: a block of ice.

Well, it was a block of ice with a rose frozen inside of it to be precise.

Media outlets called it a clutch or a purse, but really it was just a block of ice. It’s not like she could keep some mints in it to pull out later or anything.

Hard to believe, but Camila Cabello told E! News on the red carpet that the block of ice she was carrying was “very, very heavy.”

She also complained, “My hands are really cold. I can’t feel my hands.”

Yeah, well, that’s what happens when you hold on to a 15 pound block of ice for an extended period of time. (Though in fairness to her, the ice “purse” initially had a handle on it, but it broke just before she stepped onto the red carpet.)

As for why Camila Cabello was carrying a block of ice with a rose frozen inside of it on the Met Gala red carpet, she told Extra, “I feel like it is impermanence and things decaying over time and the beauty in that, so my dress sort of rips toward the ends of my dress.”

She “feels like” that’s what the block of ice means? Is she not sure? She should be sure, right?

It also might have something to do with her new album, which she coincidentally announced would be released on June 2 on Monday.

Naturally, as she certainly expected it would, Cabello’s unique Met Gala accessory drew hundreds of reactions on social media.

“Only Camila Cabello would literally bring a block of ice to the Met Gala, a real ice block OMFG she’s so unserious,” a fan wrote.

“Camila Cabello understood the assignment,” read another fan’s comment.
