The Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the most iconic vehicles on the planet. It’s Toyota’s longest-running car series and it’s been manufactured since 1951 as a U.S. Military truck. It was sort of meant to be Toyota‘s version of a Jeep-like vehicle.

The 1951 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ model was a military vehicle produced in Japan for American use in the Korean War which ended in 1953. After the armistice, Toyota released the Land Cruiser Model 20 which gave the bare bones military vehicle a much-needed comfort upgrade….and, you know what, I’m really giving away too much of this video.

Donut Media put together this ‘Everything You Need to Know’ about the Toyota Land Cruiser starting from the first production back in 1951 on through today:

My roommate in college had a Land Cruiser and it was one of the most indestructible cars around. We used to take that out into the forest like 30 miles outside of Tallahassee to some backcountry mudding tracks and we’d beat the hell out of that truck. Those were the glory days.

If you’re not already down with ‘Up to Speed’ on YouTube you 100% need to subscribe to the channel that put out that video above. It’s a weekly video series that tells the stories of the automotive industry’s most iconic cars, brands, designers, influencers, and drivers. It’s basically a weekly series that’s built for gearheads so if that sounds like something you’re into then click here to subscribe over on their YouTube page.
