Brock Purdy is currently on the final year of his rookie contract with the San Francisco 49ers as the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and will get paid approximately $900,000 this season. Even though the 24-year-old quarterback is making a minuscule sum of money in comparison to the rest of the league and some of his teammates, he presented his offensive linemen with gifts worth more than half of his salary for Christmas.

Purdy surprised 10 of the guys who protect him with brand-new automobiles.

The offensive line group paused their position meeting on Thursday afternoon to check out their surprise. They were greeted by five Toyota Sequoias and five Toyota Tundras. Purdy Claus came through in a big way!

A basic Sequoia package is valued at approximately $62,000. A basic Tundra package is valued around $40,000. If we do the math, that comes out to about $710,000 in total— which does not include all of the upgrades and customizations.

Purdy is making $900,000. He presented the guys who protect him with gifts worth ~79% of that number. And to go one step further, the contracts of San Francisco’s five starting offensive linemen total $37,651,852. Five reserve offensive linemen also received a new Toyota.

It is not a new thing for an NFL quarterback to gift his line for the holidays. Patrick Mahomes hooked up his guys with a litany of sick gifts earlier this week.

However, the financial contrast between the salaries of Brock Purdy and his offensive linemen, and the cost of 10 new vehicles is a unique twist. The quarterback is not typically the one making the least amount of money. His gifts are not usually valued at more than half of his annual salary.

Now, to provide important context here, Purdy signed with Toyota as a “national partner” back in February after signing him to a local advertising deal at the start of last season. If I had to guess, the automotive manufacturer likely ate the cost of the five Sequoias and five Tundras. Still pretty cool!
