I wake up mad everyday knowing that Step Brothers doesn’t have a sequel, yet we are still entertaining the Fast & Furious franchise after two decades.
My demons aside, a serious injury has put production for the 9th installment of the franchise on pause.
According to Variety, a stuntman has suffered a serious head injury while shooting in the United Kingdom.
“We had an injury on the set of ‘FAST 9’ today in Leavesden with one of our stuntmen,” a Universal spokesperson confirmed to Variety. “We havehalted production for the day to focus on this situation.”
Police claim that the injury was so severe that an air ambulance was called to the set at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, near London.
“An ambulance, three ambulance officer vehicles and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Leavesden Studios shortly before midday today (July 22), following reports of a man injured in a fall. One patient with a serious head injury was transported to the Royal London Hospital by air ambulance,” authorities said in a statement.
An insane amount of coordination goes into each Fast & Furious stunts. The scene commanded several practical effects, including a real 9,000 pound steel vault dragged behind two Dodge Chargers.
Fast & Furious 9 is still set to open in May 2020.
