Georgia Pizza Shop Owner Calls Out Florida Pizza Shop Owner Over His Sauce. Then The Florida Shop Pulls An Uno Reverse: ‘That Was A Low Blow’

Pizza can be a competitive business. But Florida pizzeria Bucks Coal Fired Pizza has gone viral after exemplifying how to keep things classy.

In a recent One Bite Pizza Reviews episode, Solar Slice Pizza was the one getting a review. However, during the video, the owner seemingly took a swipe at Bucks Coal, claiming that their pizza sauce had no flavor and seemingly likening it to cheese and crackers.

In response, in a clip that has garnered 237,400 views, the Bucks Coal Fired Pizza shop owner talked to the camera as he prepped some dough.

Referencing the comment, he said, “I’ve talked to [the owner] before. Thought we were cool. He’s pretty cool. I’m gonna not pass judgment on anybody ’cause I know how it is; sometimes you say things you don’t mean or whatever, no big deal. Hopes to see him again soon and could do something together.”

‘Sweet’ Revenge

He then went on to add how, in the review, Dave Portnoy called Solar Slice’s pizza sauce sweet.

Comparatively, he added that “ours is not sweet nor is it acidic. So we import tomatoes from Italy, we only use garlic, black pepper, and sea salt from the Mediterranean, we don’t put any s— in there, we have no preservatives, no added acids, anything like that.”

The owner also noted that it’s a “natural sauce so it’s not gonna punch you in the face like all this preserved s— in America does.”

“So, if you’re used to heavily preserved s— then yeah, you might not like our freshness, it might not touch your palate the way that I hope it would, but you know, outside of that, we got no beef with anybody. We want everybody to be successful in this industry or in any industry, especially in pizza,” he said.

He concluded by saying, “I think there’s enough room for everybody to make money and grow and do cool s— together, which is why I like doing all these collabs and stuff. So I think that what would be cool is if we did something with Solar Slice and with Uncle Rico’s. Just do some cool f—— s— together, cause it’s just f—— pizza, bro.”

He then went on to make the restaurant’s famous Florida Man Pizza.

What Did Commenters Say?

Commenters were largely supportive.

“Yea that was a low blow from Solar Slice,” one wrote.

“Classy answer sir,” a second added. “Respect.”

“This is why you and yours will always prosper!” a third said. “Love the response homie. Keep being f—— awesome.”

And a fourth echoed, “All publicity is good publicity my friend keep it up.”

Has Bucks Coal Fired Pizza Gone Viral Before?

In early February, after a cold front left many iguanas effectively frozen, local trapper Ryan Izquierdo brought a bunch of frozen iguanas to Bucks Coal Fired Pizza. His goal? To have the eatery make an iguana pizza. Bucks Coal Fired Pizza was more than happy to comply, and the result was a video that ended up going viral.

Speaking to CBS News Miami at the time, Izquierdo said, “We were able to do good work and remove the iguanas and educate people, and it was just a great time. The last 48 hours have been one to look back on forever for sure.”

However, this menu item later caused backlash that escalated into a health department visit after some claimed the restaurant was keeping live iguanas.

“People called in saying we had live iguanas in house like an animal cruelty issue,” the owner said at the time. “We don’t have live iguanas here.”
