Gal Gadot Seems To Think Her Wonder Woman Isn’t Dead After All

After briefly saving the DCEU with one of the legitimately best superhero movies of all time in 2017’s Wonder Woman, the franchise fell flat on its face a few years later with the deeply terrible sequel Wonder Woman 1984.

Then, after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-CEOs of the newly-formed DC Studios, it was reported that Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins had walked away from the franchise. Over the course of the new few months, further reports would indicate that Gal Gadot’s iteration of Wonder Woman was all but dead.

Gadot, however — who will next be seen in the Netflix action film Heart of Stone, which is scheduled to release on Friday, August 11 — seems to think otherwise, as she recently told ComicBook that she’s under the impression the studio will be developing a third Wonder Woman film.

Gadot said that, as she understands it, she will be developing Wonder Woman 3 together with Gunn and Safran. “I love portraying Wonder Woman,” Gadot says. “It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.”

Gadot actually appeared as Wonder Woman in two different projects this year, albeit in cameo roles: Shazam! Fury of the Gods in March and The Flash in June. Neither of these appearances was particularly well-received, though, as one viral tweet pointed out that she seems to be less charismatic every time she appears on-screen as the character.

In addition to Heart of Stone, Gadot is also set to star as the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White, which is scheduled to hit theaters next year. She’s also currently attached to projects such as a sequel to Netflix’s Red Notice, a biopic about Cleopatra (although we’ll see if that one ever actually comes to fruition), and a biopic about Irena Sendler.

Both Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 are streaming on Max.
