After The Great War In Last Night’s ‘Game Of Thrones,’ What Is Left Of The Armies Facing Off In The Last War?

During the Battle of Winterfell in Episode 2 of Season 8, there were tens of thousands of deaths. You can read about the notable Game of Thrones deaths and beloved characters who are still alive HERE. The Jon Snow/Daenerys Targaryen alliance suffered devastating casualties in the Great War. Let’s look at the forces that Daenerys Targaryen commands (what is left of them) to lead an attack on Cersei Lannister to claim the Iron Throne in the Last War.

So what does the Jon Snow/Daenerys Targaryen military look like after the Great War? Not too good. The Dothraki, Unsullied, Northerners and wildlings all suffered tremendous casualties. All we heard for eight seasons is how powerful a Dothraki horde would be if they ever set foot in Westeros. Then 25 minutes into Episode 3 they were entirely wiped out by the first wave of wights. They were even given flaming hookswords by Melisandre and they couldn’t do sh*t. It took seven seasons for Dany to acquire that army and poof! Gone.

The Snow/Targaryen military lost the entire Dothraki army of between 50,000 to 100,000 strong, more than half of 8,000 Unsullied soldiers died, and much of the 10,000 members of the Northerners and Vale were decimated in the war. Cersei’s Lannister army has 10,000 troops, in addition to Euron Greyjoy’s 30,000 Ironborn plus the 900 ships in the Iron Fleet and she also has 20,000 more from the Golden Company, but no elephants.

The Targaryen alliance also still have two dragons in Drogon and Rhaegal. They were both seriously injured in the battle, but appear to be ready to fly and fight based on the teaser trailer for Episode 4 of Season 8.

Jon Snow also still has his direwolf Ghost who survived the Great War and will be ready to fight in the Last War.
