The drama surrounding Tom Hardy and his Paramount+ series MobLand has taken another turn. A new source has claimed that the reports of Hardy creating drama on the set was a result of a smear campaign from Helen Mirren’s team.
An industry source is now claiming the negative stories about Tom Hardy’s on-set behavior during the filming MobLand season two were strategically leaked by Helen Mirren’s camp as part of an effort to potentially replace Hardy for season three.
Hollywood source says reports of Tom Hardy’s problematic behavior on the set of MobLand were “strategically leaked” by Helen Mirren’s team
According to the source, production initially believed the show could continue without Hardy, but fan backlash caused a pivot toward reconciliation.

Mirren, for her part, is now attempting to downplay rumors of on-set beef between the pair, as she posted a photo of Hardy to Instagram with the caption “Love you now and always.”
Initial reports claimed that Hardy had been fired from the show. Those reports, however, were quickly disputed by additional Hollywood trades.
When the story broke, it was alleged that Hardy would keep co-stars Mirren and Pierce Brosnan waiting as he stalled in his trailer and clashed with showrunner Jez Butterworth over script notes.
“He refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time,” a source close to the production told The Hollywood Reporter: “He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play. Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”
Now, however, THR is reporting a source close to the production says “they’re trying to work things out with Hardy for a potential third season on the Guy Ritchie series.”
At this time, season two of MobLand has finished filming and has not yet been released, while negotiations over a potential third season are now underway.
