Set to begin production on the film in just a few months, beloved Aussie actor Hugh Jackman has begun discussing his return as Wolverine in next year’s Deadpool 3 alongside his pal Ryan Reynolds.

Having originally played the role from 2000 to 2017, Jackman will be donning the claws again for the first time in over a half-decade, which means it’s been quite some time since he was in his famed Wolverine physique.

Given his undeniable commitment to the role, there’s no doubt that Jackman will be in peak physical fitness to play the part once more despite the fact that he’s now in his 50s.

During a recent appearance on the HBO Max talk show Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace, Jackman detailed the process of getting back into superhero shape and said it takes him six months to do so.

“I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time. So, we have six months from when I finish [Broadway’s The Music Man] to when I started filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months,” Jackman said on a recent episode of Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace.

Jackman continued, “And I’m really fit right now. There’s one thing that about eight shows a week being on Broadway singing and dancing, is I’m fit. So, I’m healthy. I have a good place to start. And apologies, chickens. Run a mile. Start running now because I’m coming for you.” [via HBO Max’s Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace]

Deadpool 3, which is directed by Free Guy and The Adam Project filmmaker Shawn Levy, is scheduled to begin filming this year and is set to hit theaters in the United States on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Since his last outing as Wolverine in 2017’s Oscar-nominated Logan, the 54-year-old Jackman has featured in films such as The Greatest Showman, Bad Education, Reminiscence, and The Son. Jackman’s latest project, the Hulu animated series Koala Man, premiered on the streamer on Monday, January 9.
