Not to be outdone by Bagel Boss Chris, Florida Man has had a hell of a summer, doing everything in his power to remind America that he is, in fact, the King of the Crazies in this fine country.

Just in the last couple of weeks, Florida Man has told a police officer the drugs all over his nose *aren’t* his, swallowed 20 crack rocks before leading police on a 60-mile chase, jumped a river in his Nissan Versa, and followed around a homeless man to make sure no one gives him any money.

And the Summer of Florida Man kept on stream rolling through this week, as he was arrested in Daytona Beach on Monday night for throwing his five-year-old son into the Atlantic Ocean in an effort to teach him how to swim.

According to a report from the Daytona Beach News-Journal, 37-year-old Florida Man John Bloodsworth (yes, Bloodsworth — all-time Florida Man name) was arrested on Monday for throwing his son into the ocean in Daytona Beach.

Bloodsworth, who was drunk and doing backflips off of the Daytona Beach Pier when police arrived, said he was “teaching his son how to swim.”

Then, as he was being arrested, Bloodsworth exclaimed that he was “going to jail for being awesome.”

Speaking to WESH, witness Mitch Brown said the five-year-old was “visibly upset and crying” as he was struggling in the ocean “by himself”:

“The little kid was out here by himself. Completely by himself. There was nobody around him, no adults. The kid was already very visibly upset and crying, and he didn’t want to be there,” Brown told WESH.

“I said, ‘I can’t take this no more.’ So I went down to the pier, down to the shore and confronted him myself. I said, ‘You’re coming with me, one way or another,'” he continued.

The boy was returned to his mother and Bloodsworth was charged with a litany of crimes, including aggravated abuse of a child.

That hasn’t deterred him, though, as Bloodsworth said he would be “coming back to the pier to jump off every day” and was even going to bring his daughter next time.
