72-year-old John Travolta unveiled a brand new look at the Cannes Film Festival this week. In fact, it is such a different look for the actor that many fans are saying he looks “unrecognizable.”
Travolta appeared at the film festival on Friday while attending the premiere of his directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach, a film based on his 1997 children’s book of the same name. He was wearing a black suit over a vest, a white shirt and tie, along with glasses and a sporty cream-colored beret. He was also sporting some unique and very well-trimmed facial hair.
He posed for pictures with his 26-year-old daughter, Ella, who co-stars with her father in the film, proving nepotism is always in style.
John Travolta received an honorary Palme d’Or just prior to the movie’s showing at the Debussy Theater. “I can’t believe this. This is the last thing I expected,” he told the assembled crowd and Cannes director Thierry Frémaux, who presented him with the award.” You said this would be a special night, but I didn’t think you meant this.”
Frémaux called Travolta “one of the greatest artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.”

“That chinstrap is killing my eyes, absolutely hideous,” one fan wrote on X.
“When did John Travolta become Samuel L Jackson?” another fan asked.
“Looks like he woke up from a coma thinking he was the other star from Pulp Fiction,” read another comment with a similar theme.
“That’s Joe Pantoliano,” someone else joked.
“I had to zoom in to verify it is indeed him,” another comment on John Travolta’s appearance read.
“Who are they wearing? And who drew on his facial hair?” asked another fan.
“It must be so nice to have so much money you can dress like a surrealist painter on the Left Bank of Paris in the 1930s,” read another comical comment.
